BI Statistics: How can I monitor query timeout in BI Statistics

Hi BW gurus

 

We have the following scenario:

 

  • A user runs a BEx query. The query runs for a very long time and finally either times out or is shut down by the user (the bad query performance is of course a problem, but not the crux of the question here)
  • When we look in our BI Statistics data we cannot see the data for this type of query execution (timeout or termination by user). Of course this gives a wrong impression of the query performance for our BW systems, and even worse, we do not catch this type of problem.

  

How will it be possible to capture these data with BI Statistics?

 

We use Statistics 7.0 but expect to implement 7.3 quite soon, so the question is relevant for both versions.

Query publish issue

Hi Experts,

 

I have a requirement to publish query as a file.This query contains mandatory entry for calmonth field. For this, I'm planning to include ABAP program in process chain and schedule (using T-code RSCRM_BAPI)

 

So I'm facing problem finding the Query ID/ReportUID to pass input parameter to FM "RSCRMBW_REPORT". Could you please advice.

BWA/BIA access to Nearlined data

I have a question related to BWA and access to nearlined data. Please help!

 

1. Does SAP provide a connector to access nearlined data from BWA?

2. When data is nearlined, can BWA access the nearlined data ? Is there any customization required?

Hierarchy Issue

We recently upgraded our BW environment from 7.0 to 7.3.  We have a process chain that continues to fail due to the upgrade.

loading data from flat file.

BDLS does not convert Datasource

Hello expert,

 

I've used BDLS to change Source System name. However the result was not the expected.

 

I've done the following steps:

1. In SM59 I created the RFC to the new Source System;

2. Run BLDS;

 

The result was that in RSA1 -> Source Systems, the Technical Name of the Source System is the old one, but when I check the Connection Parameters it shows the new Source System.

 

The Datasource Tree shows the Datasources with the old Source System name.

 

It seems that the system has not performed the BDLS quite fine...

 

Can you help to solve this issue?

Query Designer transport prompt not able to perform any function

Hi All

 

         I am facing an issue with BEx Query Designer , when I am trying to save the query though I am getting the prompt for transport request , but I am unable to perform any function on that prrompt. I am getting a blank screen and am able to neither select my existing transport nor create a new transport request as the screen is blank .I am attaching some screen shots and a gif to explain the issue .

The transport request is working fine for me in the back end in BW and I am able to select and create new requests, but the issue seems only with BEx Query Designer .

 

Some more details about the system..

   We are on BW 7.4 SP7 , one of my colleague with similar role (BW Developer) is able to perform the same action so  I guess  the authorization should not be an issue . It has been working for me earlier this issue only started after I recently swapped my laptop with a new one .

no lose third party parameter when connection broken.

Hi Pro,

 

      we have connection with third party connection . but whenever infopackage is triggerred, but connection with ETL is broken, then third party parameter for those infopackage will lose, we have to fill those parameter manually. is there any way we can keep those parameters in such case?

Replacing the existing SAP Source System with a New Upgraded System

Hello Everyone,

 

We have a business case where we are replacing the existing SAP SRM Source System with a new upgraded system

 

I understand it is possible to create two source system on BW for each of these clients but what will be the procedure to migrate the data sources once we have new upgraded system available?

 

If Old SRM system XYZ200 and New upgrade box in ABC200 then will the data sources have two instances 0BBP_TD_SC_1 - (Source system XYZ200) & 0BBP_TD_SC_1 - (source system ABC200)? If yes then how do we achieve this

 

My idea is to retain the old system till the date of go live and execute the batch run, then change the source system of all the existing data sources from old to new system. Till the data of go live data will be extracted from old system and after go live data will be extracted from new system

Does nearlining remove data from the index tables?

We are considering nearlining large BW objects and we also have BWA in our landscape. Please help answer the following questions.

 

1, Does nearlining remove data from the BW index tables as well"

 

2. Does nearlining help in the reduction of the amount of data that gets loaded on to BWA?

Query Designer: Constant selection is ignored for calculated key figures

Hi.

 

I have to use constant selection for a global calulated key figure. I moved it into the columns and then add the constand selection as I done it for the restricted key figures. But suprisingly the constant selection is ignored. It is running fine with restricted key figures only. So we are running 7.0 is it solved in newer releases or could it somehow explained why the constant selection is ignored.

Need to find out how to check if SAP SuPM is installed successfully or not

Hi Friends,

 

I am new to SuPM.

 

SAP Basis Team will install SAP SuPM and as a SAP BW Consultant i need to check if SuPM is installed successfully or not.

 

Can anyone help me as how to check if SuPM is installed successfully or not after Basis Team finish doing Post Installation Activities.

 

Appreciate your help in solving my Query.

Question about CALDAY/FACTORY CALENDAR DAY

Hi guyz,

 

I have a requirement where I need to assign a specific number (to be used in my calculation) for each day of the month..

 

Here is the set of rules:

 

1. Weekdays (Monday to Friday) should be assigned as 1.

2. Saturdays should be assigned as 0.5 except for the last Saturday of the month where it should be 1.

3. Sundays should be assigned as 0.

4. All REGULAR and SPECIAL HOLIDAYS should be assigned as 0 regardless if it is a weekday or weekend.

 

How can I achieve this?

 

For now, I can only think of having an UPLOAD file where it contains all the dates of the month with their corresponding "number"..

 

Any other options?

Data extraction from 0CO_PA_10

I am trying to extract from 0CO_PA_10 but the load is filing with the below error message.

Refer to the error message.

 

Procedure

 

How you remove the error depends on the error message.

 

Note

 

If the source system is a Client Workstation, then it is possible that the file that you wanted to load was being edited at the time of the data request. Make sure that the file is in the specified directory, that it is not being processed at the moment, and restart the request.

InfoPackage error for Hierarchy data loads after upgrading to BI 7.31

Hi All,

 

We have recently upgraed to BI 7.31 from BI 7.01. After the upgrade we are observing info package error while loading the Hierarchy for 0BPARTNER infoobject, below is the long text for the error message.

 

Datasource name : 0BPARTNER_NAME_HIER

 

Error in the hierarchy structure: see error log

Message no. RH003

Diagnosis

The structure of the hierarchy contains errors. You can find a detailed description of the error in the log.

 

Procedure

Correct the error in the hierarchy structure as described in the log.

The error message suggests checking the error log, but there are no error logs to be reffered.

 

Please let us know if anyone have faced similar issue and help us resolving the same. Also let us know where to find the error log in such scenario.

 

We have already tried replicating the data source at BW side, but no success. We also checked the extractor at source system side and found it to be working alright.

query used as source for load into cube

Hi all,

I have defined a Query and will use it as source for transformation and load into info cube.

Unfortunately the extraction is not filling the Period at all (0FISCPER3). The Fiscal year variant and the fiscal year and the remaining characteristics

and Key figures are forwarded properly. when executing the query with RSRD the Period is filled without any issue.

Query Rows , Columns and Free Characteristics

Hi All,

 

For a particular query i want to find the objects which are in Rows , Columns and free charateristics in query designer.

 

So for tthis which table i need to refer.

 

Table RSZELTXREF is not giving all the objects which are present in the query.

Append Structure in DataSource

Hi Experts,

 

I drag the standard field from communication pool to communication structure of 2LIS_13_VDITM data source. But every time we drag any new field all the other ZZ fields automatically removed from the append structure. we have to add manually again all the ZZ fields in the append structure.

 

We are facing this problem from the very long time.

 

Is there any workaround to solve this?

0FI_GL_14 extractor issue

Hello,

I'd like to add user name field (USNAM) in the 0FI_GL_14 extractor.

I've managed the append structure ZAFAGLPOSBW to add this field but when I test the extractor by using RSA3 the field is not
displayed.

If I managed selection option for this field , I can select posting document by USNAM but the field is not displayed.

Could you help me to find the solution ?

Currency conversion at query level

Hi Experts,

 

Company code currency is ZAR. I am getting g/l Balances 0FIGL_C10 in ZAR.

 

My client wants to see their balances in USD also. For that i checked in TCURR table. In this table From - USD, TO - ZAR is maintained.

 

if i create currency translation type in rscur, I am doubted it will not convert ZAR into USD.

Becasue my source currency is ZAR, In Tcurr table rate was maintained USD To ZAR.

 

Plz guide me how can i convert source currency ZAR TO USD.
